Join us for our Second Annual “Light the Night” event on Wednesday, May 22nd at Wee Burn Beach Club to launch the next chapter in the Lighthouse’s epic history.

Thanks to generous donors and volunteers, the Lighthouse is nearing the completion of a critical five-year restoration. With urgent restoration work complete, we’ve launched the “Next 100 Years” – a vision to transform the Lighthouse into a beacon of research and education and to endow its preservation for generations to come.

“Launch” the Next 100 Years With Us

A key component to the Lighthouse’s “Next 100 Years” vision is the acquisition of a purpose-built Munson Boat with world-class capabilities and safety features to meet our unique challenges and facilitate educational opportunities throughout the community. Munson Boats is the pre-eminent builder of commercial-grade vessels and has built launch boats for peer Lighthouse organizations and other research and educational institutions. The aluminum vessel is Coast Guard-certified to transport 20 passengers to the Lighthouse from the Darien and Norwalk coastline.

The vessel has a unique beach landing capability, enabling passenger pick-up from local beaches along public parks and clubs, which would enhance our ability to offer educational programming and share the Lighthouse with the community. In addition to its world-class safety features and its unique beach landing and passenger transport capabilities, the vessel itself has capabilities to facilitate marine research and education, and to function as a multi-purpose workboat to support future restoration work – functioning as an adjacent “community asset” for the Lighthouse and the community.

To showcase the boat and its incredible capabilities, we’ve chartered the RV Rutgers – a Munson research vessel - to run cruises around the Lighthouse during the Light the Night event for all attendees. Ticket Packages also include VIP Passes to join a Pre/Post Event Tour of the Lighthouse.
